Dear President Duterte,
First things first I hope you are doing well amidst all of this. I am writing this letter so I can express my gratitude and point out some of my concerns regarding the way you lead our country. I want to address your view points on different contemporary issues and some major actions you have done in your term. As a young Filipino, I really do wish for my country to progress so that the future generations will not experience the life we have now. I wish that you would take time to understand my points not only as a student, but as a fellow citizen of our country.
First, I would like to thank you for your contributions to the country such as the numerous laws under your administration, better experiences for OFW’s and farmers, efforts to better our environment, just to name a few. Now for my concerns, the major ones being the war on drugs, extrajudicial killings, and police brutality. Violence will never be an effective way of dealing with crimes, people have lost their lives due to the illegal use of drugs. In my opinion, killing someone just because of drugs is taking it too far, not to mention that people can be falsely accused. Police brutality or them abusing their power is a common thing to see in our country which is sad, but it is more frustrating that some of these police officers can get away with crimes simply because of their power. The problems I stated along with others including the Anti-Terrorism Act and Red-tagging are violations on our human rights. I also have a problem with death penalty, though it’s true that criminals should suffer for their crimes but, we should take into consideration that there could be wrongfully accused people that can’t afford a good lawyer can also get killed. My last concern is the fact that COVID-19 cases in the Philippines aren’t getting any lower despite it being a year and a half since the pandemic started. The poor people are the ones who are mostly suffering from the concerns I stated, that is why I ask for you to find a way to better our country and listen to what the people has to say.
I am grateful for all your contributions, but have problems with the way you lead. I hope you can understand that the issues I have stated have hurt and continue to hurt our people. So as our leader you should find ways to better our experience and make our country peaceful. All in all I wish you the best in the remaining years of your term. From one Filipino to another, let’s work together for a brighter tomorrow.
Your citizen,
Aubrey Marie R. Garcia.

Your blog has taught me a lot, particularly about your views and observations on our president, as well as your feelings for him. I also gain understanding from your blog because it helps me to understand the many points of view that our fellow citizens have about the government and our president.
ReplyDeleteThis blog post made me realize a lot of things that I didn't seem to find on our president. Like his great contributions to our country, as well as the things we are concerned about. This gave me a better view and a good look to our president itself. Overall, I totally agree with you and your statements, also being just as thankful as you are.
