I Juana Empower

For countless decades, women have fought for equality and empowerment. Women's empowerment is defined as promoting their self-worth, ability to achieve, capability to make their own decisions, and live life with the power to do anything. This movement may seem easily achievable, but we still have to go a long way to achieve full equality. Women have a significant contribution to our society and shaped us into the people we are now. This should be enough reason to empower and provide them with the appreciation they deserve. And this pandemic, women have been more empowered than ever, serving as front-liners and leaders. These empowered women influence young girls to achieve, make their own decisions, and feel worthy of their lives.
People have different views on the concept of "women as empowered." An empowered woman may be in the form of a powerful politician, a caring mother, a business owner, or even a young girl who has high self-worth. This pandemic has proved to me that women play a key role in society, which should be more of a reason to empower them. Let us take New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as an example. She and her team impressed the world by achieving victory over COVID. Many women served as frontliners in hospitals, risking their lives to help the country.
Spending most of our time on the internet due to the pandemic allowed us to shine a light on gender equality and women empowerment. This has influenced me to change my perspective of an empowered woman. I view any female who is successful, confident, well-aware,  independent, and supports fellow women as "empowered." These empowered women include my mother, my teachers, my friends, and my idols. Seeing women be empowered and recognized for their efforts helps me as a young girl to feel confident in my gender and inspires me to take control over my life.
Overall, empowering women is a big step in achieving gender quality. In providing them with the ability to feel confident and sharpen their skills, we are directly contributing to the future of our society. Women's month may have ended, but that shouldn't stop us from appreciating the women in our lives. Let's be educated and respectful members of society. We shouldn't be ignorant of someone's rights and capabilities just because of their gender. We should advocate for women's empowerment or simply recognize women as valuable members of our community. As Mary Wollstonecraft said, "I do not wish [women] to have power over men; but over themselves."
